In 2014, Mr. Johnathan Kirkland, a Massachusetts resident and the founder of Raindrop Liquor Distributor LLC, envisioned importing the best alcoholic beverages and distilled spirits into the United States market from around the world. With that in mind, Johnathan handpicked a few friends to help bring his vision to fruition. Johnathan paid for one of them to travel to Africa, searching for a Rum. After receiving several samples and conducting several tastings here in the United States, a particular Rum was finally found off the west coast of Africa on the Cape Verde Island of Santo Antao. This "Rum Ponche" was a pure "grogue", made from sugarcane with no added preservatives and was deeply rooted in our culture. Johnathan immediately had it shipped to the States in IBC containers. Once in the States, Johnathan bottled, capped, wrapped, and labeled it "Black Ice Rum". In Massachusetts, there are five major distributors who pretty much control the entire market. These major distributors either would not accept Johnathan's product or wanted to lock him into a lifetime contract. Johnathan became so frustrated that he procured the help of two more friends to expand Raindrop Liquor importer to include a distribution channel, giving birth to the first minority Import/Wholesale Liquor Distributor in Massachusetts.
